The Farm “The Mill” promotes the development of teaching in agriculture by encouraging the encounter between the farm and the school world. Then, in addition to agricultural production, it is equipped to devote itself to teaching and training activities and to welcome schoolchildren, families and groups of people who intend to deepen their knowledge of the rural world.
A fairly unusual opportunity for many children who grow up in the city to have contact with domestic livestock and have the opportunity to be involved in the creation of a typical product or in other activities, such as the collection of fruit and vegetables.
Nature, animals and activities: our Educational Farm is a place where children can learn and grow, discovering how important nature and its rhythms are. They can learn to live together with respect for animals and others. Laboratories, guided tours and educational tours are created ad hoc to transform the farm into an open-air classroom, where learning will be incredible and exciting.
The main purpose of our Educational Farm, indeed, is to make known the activities that take place in a normal farm. From garden care, to the collection of seasonal fruit and vegetables. From the watering of animals to the times of pastures. in conclusion, an experience like this allows children, and not only, to see how an animal really lives and to make it learn how important respect for the environment is. And it is precisely the direct contact with nature that allows environmental education to be transmitted more easily.
Learning by doing, there is no better way to teach kids how to make cheese, the bread, cold cuts, Pasta. We teach children how to grow up, transmitting the true values of peasant life, we teach respect for work and the land, knowing how to wait, respect for the times and for nature.
Little hands knead
Try kneading or ad “mess” even alone!
Pasta and bread are two elements that have played a fundamental role in human nutrition since ancient times.
With today's industrial production, the true origins of these products are often forgotten ... and it is for this reason that at Relais Il Mulino we would like our children and teenagers to rediscover them by making them become little bakers or small pasta makers for a day!
Our Educational Farm wants to stimulate children to discover the main crops up to examine, carefully, their product: from grain of wheat to flour.
In this itinerary they will develop their ability to manipulate, making pasta or bread. Children will learn to knead the ingredients to make their own loaf of bread or pasta that they will take home at the end of the day.
The Didactic Farm of Relais Il Mulino is mainly aimed at children of kindergarten and primary school, diversifying the contents and the methodology according to their age.
The activities will be coordinated and agreed with the teachers.
